My name is Jaleel Howard and I am a freshman political science major and African-American studies minor from Los Angeles, California. I have two older siblings and one younger sibling. I come from a large and close knit family that has always stressed the importance of family, academic excellence, and confidence. Expectations were set high from day one so I've always been driven and self determined. In my free time I enjoy both playing and watching sports, listening to music, and reading. I came to Morehouse because I wanted to venture from home and experience something new. By coming to Morehouse, I also knew that I would be able to learn and grow among young men who look like me and are also strive towards success like I do. My dream is to one day affect change in the way education is run in this country. Far too often, young black children are left behind and ignored in K-12th grade education, and my goal is to no longer allow this injustice to happen. I hope to gain the tools necessary to achieve the goals that I want to attain and have a positive impact on society as a whole.
